D.C. Beauty of Beijing Opera: Beijing Opera Performance

The GW Confucius Institute will present a Beijing Opera performance by the DC Beauty of Beijing Opera (DCBBO). The DCBBO will briefly introduce the history and performance styles of Beijing Opera, followed by the performance of six featured scenes from classic operas. Beijing Opera gives audiences the opportunity to discover and appreciate traditional Chinese culture and values. This performance will coincide with the Mid-Autumn Festival; one of the grandest celebrations in China that falls on the 15th day of the 8th month of the Chinese lunar calendar.
The artists will showcase the four major performance skills: singing, recitation, dance acting and martial arts. The six featured scenes will be Drunken Beauty, Battle at the Hu Village, The Monkey King, Mu Guiying Takes Command, Farewell, My Lady and Jade Bracelet.
This event is sponsored by the GW Confucius Institute in partnership with DC Beauty of Beijing Opera and is the first ever collaboration between GWCI and DCBBO. This is the first ever collaboration between GWCI and DCBBO.
